It is my pleasure to invite you to the 2020 CORESTA Congress, which will be held in Vienna from October 11 to 15 and hosted by the Japan Tobacco Inc. .
Our world is changing fast. “Integrated Science – Opportunities and Challenges” has been chosen as this year’s Congress theme to find out how CORESTA can assist the changes. Experts from all over the world will come to Austria for one week to share their scientific work and to discuss opportunities on how science can support “transformations of society” (or “evolution of society”) and contribute to the creation of sustainable values.
Vienna is characterized by its monumental architecture, with an abundance of baroque buildings and imperial palaces. Museums and galleries present one of the world’s finest art collections, ranging from old masters to contemporary and avant-garde works. With a rich musical heritage, Vienna is known as the City of Music, with outstanding performance venues. Coffee-houses, elegant restaurants, and rustic wine taverns offer local and international delicacies, by creative chefs who are experimenting with innovative combinations of local products.
But Vienna has much more to offer. CORESTA comes to Vienna in 2020 because it is a city of research, technology, and innovation. The city implemented a strategy which does not refer only to technological progress, but also to progress in society. “Vienna is a dynamic and modern city in the heart of Europe. Modern cities are innovative and bring their whole potential to bear in coming up with solutions for the urgent social problems of our time” *. This makes Vienna a particularly appropriate venue for “Integrated Science”.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the Japan Tobacco Inc, I wish you a pleasant and fruitful stay in Vienna.
